And so the Brexit 'trigger' is finally pulled - apt metaphor for a successful suicide, albeit an agonisingly slow one.
We lurch onto a different historical path, one of deep reaction, pathological nostaliga, bitter division at home, enmity for our European neighbours, resentful marginalisation in world affairs, possibly the end of the 'United' Kingdom altogether. And of course, more poverty and with that, ever greater inequality, spavined public services and callous indifference to the most vulnerable. Alongside this enormous disaster, to critique the inadequacies of our justice policies might seem like criticising the steward aboard the Titanic for putting too much ice in one's whisky, just as the berg looms. Anyway, for today, to Hell with politics. Instead, I'll post my other hobby: making glass. Up next! |
I was formerly Finance Director of the Prison Service and then Director of the National Offender Management Service responsible for competition. I also worked in the NHS and an IT company. I later worked for two outsourcing companies.
